How apiVaginal works

Intimate infections are common medical conditions that arise in the female genital tract due to the action of bacteria and funghi, which lead to changes in the bacterial flora of the vagina. Some of the first indications of such intimate infections are: itching, burning and discharge. As most diseases are chronic and recurring, it is important to act quickly and effectively. That’s why we created apiVaginal and its unique combination of propolis and hyaluronic acid.

apiVaginal gel

A mucoadhesive gel for use on the female external genitalia of women (labia, vaginal vestibule). It moisturises the mucous membranes, reduces irritation and soothes the symptoms of inflammation. Use to restore the correct physiological condition of the skin around the external genitalia.

apiVaginal ovulas

Alleviates ailments around labia and vagina, such as dryness, irritation, itching, burning and redness. Can be used after gynecological procedures and surgeries. The hyaluronic acid contained in the ovules forms a layer that coats the vaginal mucosa, providing protection, moisturisation and regeneration.

Hyaluronic acid

Creates a layer that covers the mucous membranes. This layer both moisturises and protects the mucous membranes against irritation, as well as assisting the natural regenerative process.

Hyaluronic acid (in the form of sodium hyaluronate) is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body, and has a valuable, biological role to play. When applied to the skin or mucous membranes, it forms a gel coating layer. This layer has moisturising properties thanks to the ability of hyaluronic acid to bind large amounts of water. In addition, it protects the mucous membranes and skin against irritation and creates conditions conducive to the activation of natural regenerative mechanisms. When applied to the skin and mucous membranes, hyaluronic acid has a positive effect on the healing process, whilst reducing inflammation.

Hyaluronic acid is characterised by its excellent biocompatibility, meaning it is safe because it occurs naturally in the human body, and therefore, very rarely causes adverse reactions.

Propolis

The other key active ingredient is extract of propolis, a natural bee product.

Propolis is a natural, antibacterial substance produced by bees in order to secure their honeycomb cells and keep the hive clean. Propolis is made up of more than 300 different components, including flavonoids, lipid-protein substances, organic acids, coumarins, carbohydrates, enzymes. Thanks to its rich properties, propolis is used in a wide variety of medicinal treatments.

Published literature data has shown that products containing propolis effectively treat bacterial infections of the vagina and vulva, which are sometimes difficult to cure with standard pharmaceuticals.
